Toxin Tuesday – Deoderant
This is the one no one wants to talk about, but it’s the one we instinctively know we should change. There may be some correlation between the aluminum and parabens in antiperspirants and breast cancer and perhaps even Alzheimer’s. Certainly do your own research.
Here’s a place to start.
From the article:
“Parabens are preservatives that are found in many antiperspirants and deodorants. These chemicals have estrogenic activity in human breast cancer cells, and research published in 2012 found one or more parabens in 99 percent of the 160 tissue samples collected from 40 mastectomies.11
Separate research also detected parabens in 18 of 20 tissue samples from human breast tumors.”
The safest solution is to avoid adding chemicals to be absorbed by your skin and use a natural deodorant. It will take some adjusting by your body, but after a short time, a natural solution may work even better than your previous chemical concoctions.
Some good options:
Piper Wai – this one has an activated charcoal base and works the best in my opinion.
