Toxin Tuesday – Skin Care

We all want perfect skin – but what are we really applying daily to our faces?  Are the common chemicals used in these products we slather on our skin, worth the long term harm to our hormones?  Or is the increased cancer risk worth it?

To see how your current products rate, check out the EWG’s Skin Deep rating guide.

While we know the dangers of some ingredients like parabens, Retinyl palmitate, retinyl acetate, retinoic acid, retinoland, Alpha and beta hydroxy acids, and more, the “fragrance” is considered a trade secret and can hide more toxic chemicals.

For skin care, I prefer going natural and non-toxic with products I know are good for my skin and don’t add long term heath risks.  Sia Botanics and Young Living have great options. Particularly the Prickly Pear Serum and Instant Eye Repair from Sia Botanics.  From Young Living, the ART line is wonderful, as is the heavenly Orange Blossom Face Wash and Sheerlume makes for beautiful glowing skin you’ll be happy to show off makeup-free.
